First Annual Meeting of the Mexican-German Digital Dialogue

On 15 January 2024, the Mexican Ministry of Economy (Economía), the Mexican Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (Comunicaciones) and the German Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV) jointly committed to exchange and work on areas of interest related to digital policy in both countries. At the first Annual Meeting of the Mexican-German Digital Dialogue, they signed a Work Plan for 2024.

First Indonesian-German AI Dialogue in Jakarta

On 12 December 2023, the German Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV) and the Indonesian Ministry of Communications and Informatics (MCI) held the first Indonesian-German AI Dialogue. Together with stakeholders from business, civil society and academia, they discussed the role of harmonised regulations for artifical intelligence (AI). The event enhanced the mutual understanding of AI policies and explored collaboration opportunities.

Establishment of the Kenyan-German Digital Dialogue

On 22 November 2023, Kenyan and German government officials formally commenced the Kenyan-German Digital Dialogue. Kenya is Germany’s first African partner within the framework of the International Digital Dialogues. The government exchange solidified the commitment of both countries to regularly exchange on digital policy matters.

NASSCOM visit in Germany: Promoting Indo-German digital partnership

To enhance business collaboration and foster innovation, the Indian software association NASSCOM (National Association of Software and Service Companies) visited Germany. Together with the Embassy of India in Berlin, the German Federal Association of Medium-sized Businesses (BVMW) and Germany Trade and Invest (GTAI), they organised a networking event. It took place on 23 November 2023 at the embassy.

16th German Digital Summit: International panel on digital sovereignty

How can we shape digital sovereignty in a globalised world? On 20 November 2023, the German Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV) hosted a panel on this question at the Digital Summit of the German Government in Jena, Germany. The panellists concluded that international cooperation, not isolation, is key to successfully strengthen digital sovereignty.
